LICONS Project:- Objectives

The prime industrial / economic objectives are:

A five-fold increase in the use of resin-bonded restoration
A ten-fold increase in the use of FRP materials in timber restoration
Reduction in direct restoration costs of 25%
Reduction in total restoration time / client disruption of up to 20%
Reduction in existing fabric removal of up to 15%
Reduction in volume of replacement timber of 20%.

The social objectives are:

Better conservation of the built heritage
Concealed repairs providing excellent aesthetic qualities
Improved client confidence
Improved materials knowledge base and skill level in this largely SME-driven construction sector
Increased employment in the manufacture of FRP and resin materials
Reduction in timber wastage through structural efficiency
Improved productivity for clients through reduced disruption / contract times.
